English Staffordshire Begging Spaniel Dog Toby Jug pitcher Red White 1850 - 1870.

English Staffordshire Begging Spaniel Jug, dating closer to 1850, but in the date range of 19th century 1850 to 1870.

Measures 10 ½” high and about 4” by 4” at the bottom.

The price guide of this rare begging spaniel was $1275 to $1375 in 1997. I refer you to the book “Staffordshire Spaniels” by Adele Kenny, pages 131-133.

The top resembles a tricorn hat, a style worn during this time period, and there are red berries and green leaves.

There is a lot of crazing. There has to be crazing because it shows the time period. The bottom is not marked as to the maker. That is also important as these original spaniels were never marked by a maker. If you see a maker’s mark, it is not an original.
